WESTBURY SOCCER CLUB PLAYER ACTIVATION POLICY:
WSC defines “PLAYER ACTIVATION” as players that attend
practice and games
according to a predetermined schedule. Players who do not attend practice
and
games cannot hold roster slots on teams. WSC reserves the right to
place players on
teams when slots become available due to non-active players. Team roster
slots are
solely for players who attend practice and games.
REFEREE POLICY:
Westbury Soccer Club has an obligation to our players, coaches and
the other HYSA-affiliated clubs to provide qualified referees for all
soccer matches. In order to meet that obligation, it is the policy
of Westbury Soccer Club that each team participating in our program
provide at least one (1) referee qualified and willing to accept assignments
as the center referee to matches at the team’s level of competition.
For more information, please see the Referees
Page.
RAINOUT POLICY
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM:
Player Assistance Grant (PAG):
WSC does offer financial assistance (grants) to select players whose circumstance has been
deemed a hardship.
The Head Coach is responsible for making this determination regarding a particular player(s) and
submitting it to the board for review and approval. Once approved/declined the player(s) will be
offered/denied a grant.
The number, frequency and value of these grants are as follows:
TEAMS W/ ROSTERS of 14 and less
1 Grant
TEAMS W/ ROSTERS of 15 and more
2 Grants
The value of a grant is equal to the registration fee that is due that season by that particular
player.
Grants are available for one season only and subject to re-confirmation of hardship in subsequent
seasons.
Head Coach Assistance Grant (HCAG):
The Player Assistance Grant (PAG) is separate from the Head Coach Assistance Grant (HCAG)
which is offered solely to Head Coaches of Westbury Soccer Club teams. The HCAG is offered
each season to Head Coaches who have a child playing on that specific team. The HCAG’s value
and frequency is similar to the PAG and offered for one child only.
WSC has the right to withdraw and/or modify both the Player Assistance Grant and the Head
Coach Assistance Grant at any time based on its own solvency.
PLAYER “PLAYING UP” POLICY:
WSC occasionally will elect to promote younger players to “play up” in order to meet the minimum
number of players required for team activation. Players assigned to teams under the “Playing Up” policy are limited to playing in one year increments which are subject to re-evaluation and reconfirmation
in subsequent years. The “Playing Up” policy can be retracted at any time by a joint
agreement of both the head coach and an appointed club officer. Reasons for retraction are as
follows:
• For any reason relating to a players age
• For any reason relating to a players performance
• To open roster spots for new players who are age appropriate
It is WSC’S policy that teams should be formed wth players that are the age appropriate. The
concept of “playing up” should only used when necessary as a last resort and is not a preferred
part of standard team formation.
